Just seven years after being convicted of shoplifting $5,550 worth of designer clothes & accessories from hoity-toity Saks Fifth Avenue, Winona Ryder has once again found herself in a regrettable - and costly - tight spot.

The offbeat Golden Globe-winner, who rubbed shoulders with the cream of the crop at a Marie Claire event on Sunday in Madrid, was given a Bulgari diamond encrusted bracelet and ring to wear that amounted to a hefty $125,000.

Once the shindig came to an end, the pint-sized star gathered her gear and hit the road. No harm there, except that both the ring and bracelet turned up missing after Winona was safely out of Spain.

A new report in a French magazine states that the actress claimed to have stopped by the front desk at the hotel to return the jewelry before embarking on her journey, but hotel management insist they have no surveillance footage to support her testimony.

Though this would lead one to believe that she is in fact guilty of pinching the bling, sources over at TMZ allegedly know what really went down last weekend. The insiders maintain that on Monday morning at about 6:00 a.m. Miss Ryder vacated the hotel, and since nobody was available to collect the pricy adornments she left them back in her room.

Yes the items were nowhere to be found, however the previously mentioned sources assert that Winona “never said she had taken the jewels to the front desk” and that “whoever planted the story may be covering up for someone who had access to the room after she left.”

Dun dun DUN!

So far Ryder has not been contacted by the coppers, but if found guilty she could be looking at yet another bout of probation, counseling and umpteen hours of community service.
