It sounds as though incidents happening behind the scenes in the making of Katie Holmes’ new movie are far more exciting than the movie it’s self.
While on the set of Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, the 30 year old wife of Tom Cruise had momentarily vacated a car on the film set, being filmed in Australia, when the vehicle began to smoke and eventually caught fire leaving Katie shaken and needing to take the remainder of the day off from filming.

Holmes, daughter Suri and husband Tom arrived in Melbourne earlier this month, where they are living in billionaire friend James Packer’s private suite at the Crown Towers Complex on the south bank of the city’s Yarra River.
The movie, which also stars Australian actor Guy Pearce, recently scene detonating bombs in The Hurt Locker, was written by Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo Del Toro, and is based around a little girl named Sally, who is sent to live with her father, played by Guy and his new girlfriend, Katie. Sally finds strange creatures in her new home who are hoping to claim the youngster as ‘one of their own’.
Katie herself is extremely pleased with the movie, her role and the storyline, but if her recent movie resume is anything to go by, this sounds like it has all the makings of following suit, as a box office failure.

Since marrying Tom in 2005, Katie has appeared with Diane Keaton in the outrageous comedy, Mad Money in 2008 and followed that up in late 2008 until January this year with her Broadway debut in, All My Sons.
Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark is scheduled for release in 2011.
