Keeping track of Mia Farrow’s 2 week hunger strike has become a focal point for many media outlets including, Good Morning America with Chris Cuomo, Larry King Live and, on all accounts, even prior to the start of her fast, Mia was attracting the attention of celebrities with illusionist, David Blaine offering his advice.

Knowing that the people, for whom Mia is raising awareness, survive on less than 1,000 calories per day and that Mia herself would survive on less, Blaine realized that coping with hunger would be a real challenge for the 64 year old actress and gave her pointers on how to prepare for the experience.

Speaking from experience, having been buried alive for seven days, encased in a block of ice for over 63 hours and spent 44 days in a Plexiglas case, the 36 year old Brooklyn born magician passed along his invaluable information to Mia telling her she should drink 4 litres of water a day and also that by day 6 she wouldn’t even feel the pangs of hunger.

Starting off at a low 110lbs doesn’t give Mia a lot of room for weight loss and although she hopes to go the whole 15 days she has already said that she, unlike the people of Darfur, will not die from the exercise. She emphasized that she has the choice in the matter unlike the starving millions of the Sudan.

Writing on her blog, which she intends to update throughout the two weeks, Mia says, “What I am going through now is nothing compared what the people of Darfur are facing,” Farrow blogged. “When I feel hunger pangs and my head aches, I think of them.”

Mia’s blog can be read on her web site www.MiaFarrow.org where she also encourages readers to call the 1-800-GENOCIDE number which allows readers to easily find and contact their elected officials. Farrow wants people to tell President Barack Obama, their senators and Congressperson to find a way to get the humanitarian agencies back into Darfur or otherwise fill the gap, to vigorously pursue a process that will bring peace to Darfur and to fully fund the World Food Programme.
