When any normal person finds themselves regrouping following a nasty divorce, they might pop out and get a new hair do, a new washing machine or even a new car. But not Madonna, she pops out to get herself a new baby after finding herself divorced from Guy Rirchie!

The recently divorced Material Girl doesn’t want a material fix to her loneliness, she wants to adopt yet another child from Malawi. But this time, there’s resistance from the High Court in Malawi who are opposing the 50 year old’s bid to adopt orphaned, Mercy, a 4 year old girl, who’s 18 year old mother died after giving birth to the girl.

The child was taken in by the same orphanage, the Home of Hope Orphanage Center, where Madonna’s other adopted child, David Banda, was from.With controversy mounting from local groups regarding Madonna’s application for the adoption, the courts have adjourned the matter until Friday, when, if she secures the adoption she will walk away with 4 children, 3-year-old David in a brood, 12-year-old Lourdes, 8-year-old Rocco and her latest addition to her brood, Mercy.

ABC news reports that children’s advocacy groups have accused Madonna of wielding her wealth and influence to circumvent a Malawian law requiring an 18- to 24-month assessment period before adoption. David’s adoption was a trying process for the singer, who has said the storm of criticism hurt.

On Monday, a coalition of non-governmental organizations criticized the pop star’s latest adoption application.

“We feel Madonna is behaving like a bully,” said Undule Mwakusungura, chairman of the Human Rights Consultative Committee. “She has the money and the status to use her profile to manipulate, to fast-track the process.”
