Has presidential contender, John McCain realized that elevating Barack Obama’s status to that of a celebrity is the best way to bring him down in the public eye?

In McCaain’s latest commercial he has brought into question Obama’s ability to hold the position of Commander in Chief by portraying him as a celebrity more than a politician with the image of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears drifting through the images on the commercial. Mccain refers to his opponent as, “the biggest celebrity in the world” and uses footage from his speech in Berlin, with sound bites of the throngs cheering “Obama, Obama.”

Creating negativity regarding Obama at the same time as creating a positive image, McCain has utilized footage of these other mega celebrities (with less than squeaky clean reputations) in his attempt to steal the lead in the race for the White House.

This follows Obama’s European tour last week which saw him being greeted at venues in much the same way as George Clooney or Brad Pitt would be greeted.

But could this back fire for McCain when the American people remember the celebrity status achieved by one of the countries best loved Presidents, and his wife, John F Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis!
