What a great choice for the host of the 2009 Oscars, Hugh Jackman! An Australian!
With all the talk of economic stimulus packages, financial melt downs, Ponzi schemes and house repossession the choice of Hugh to host the Oscars could be the best thing to happen to America for months.
As a native Aussie, hopefully the hunky star of Australia, will steer right away from political jokes and refrain from taking the opportunity to take a hit at the country’s problems and the politicians responsible both for them, and for solving them.

Working from a carefully prepared script that hopefully makes us laugh, takes us out of the current depression and increases the popularity of the Oscars, the 40 year old superhero Wolverine, who sings, dances and acts on screen and stage will bring an evening of light relief to guests and movie goers alike, and even if the pressure is on him, Jackman is just the man to pull it off!
Taking advice from Steve Martin, Whoopi Goldberg and the UK’s star of The Office, Ricky Gervais, Hugh merely laughed, “I hope I’m funny, but there’s not the same pressure on me to be knocking ‘em out,” he insists. “I don’t think anyone is expecting seven minutes of stand-up.” Nor will he be tackling his adopted country’s new government, saying, “There are a few political jokes floating around, but I’m not going to be the most controversial host they’ve ever had, that’s for sure.”

He’s great to look at too, and in a tux……..!
