I speculated about it, and I’m sure a lot of you - like me - we’re hoping for it, but it looks like we won’t be seeing a much-anticipated comeback from Britney Spears. At least not at the VMAs this year.

Maybe - given last year’s performance - no one was willing to risk her doing it all over again, maybe she feels she’s just not ready. Whatever the reason, it has been confirmed by Ryan Seacrest that Miss Brit won’t be on stage for the MTV awards show.

O.C. alumna Mischa Barton - who spent time in the drunk tank last December - has decided to plead “no contest” in her DUI case in order to skip out on hardcore jail time.
As a refresher, the 22-year-old previously acquired the following charges for her little slipup…

- One misdemeanor count of driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or higher
- One count of being an unlicensed driver
- One misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- One count of possession of marijuana, 28.5 grams or less

Billy Ray Cyrus aka Hannah Montana’s papa went on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Tuesday morning to counter rumors of a La Lohan ban, reports people.com.

The former American Idol host dove right in per usual by dredging up Grammy gossip. While attending the renowned event, Miley Cyrus was introduced to Lindsay Lohan and by the end of the evening the girls decided to trade digits. The story goes that after Mr. Ray took a peak at his daughter’s cell phone, he promptly erased the starlet’s number.

So in the world of Britney Spears, it must just seem like any other day to be surrounded by your own clones on the set of the new video “Piece of Me”. Here’s hoping the concept is as good as it looks. It seems that Brit Brit will be releasing the new single in the very near future on the heels of her mediocre album success. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Capital Radio, the skinny Spice Girl - the one with the basin shaped hair cut and the lips that pout almost as consistently as Angelina Jolie’s - seems to think she has found herself a vocation in life.
