If breaking up ’s marriage wasn’t enough, now it looks like Rose McGowan is mucking up his career.

The NY Observer reported this week that Universal Studios backed out of Roodriguez’s remake of Barbarella a result of McGowan’s being cast as the lead.

Rodriguez denies that Marilyn Manson’s former sex-toy being casted had anything to do with Universal losing interest in the film.

He claims it was all about the cash.

“Universal had initially signed on for $60 million,” says Robert. “But then when we were done with the script it wound up at closer to $82 million.”

A source close to actress Rose McGowan confirmed to People Magazine that she and film director Robert Rodriguez are engaged. The couple met on the set of the feature film, Grindhouse.

McGowan and Rodriguez were a dirty little Hollywood semi-secret when they first got together. Rumors swirled that they were having an uber hot tryst, but Rodriguez was still married.
