In March this year the world said goodbye to Anthony Minghella, the British born academy award wining movie director, and now less than three months later Hollywood has lost yet another prolific movie director and actor, Sydney Pollack.

Veteran director, Sydney Pollack died on Sunday at his home in Los Angels after a battle with cancer. Attention had been drawn to his illness after he withdrew in August 2007 as the director of an HBO television movie for unspecified health reasons.

Matt Damon is the sexiest man alive?

Really?

This must have something to do with friends and former “sexiest men” launching a campaign for Damon to win top honors this year.

“You’ve given an aging suburban dad the ego-boost of a lifetime,” Damon, 37, told PEOPLE, explaining why he couldn’t possibly accept the crown.

Coming in a close second and third were Patrick Dempsey and Ryan Reynolds.
