Joe Simpson aka Ashlee’s father & manager has once again come up with a scheme to derive $$$ from his youngest offspring.

Since her older sister’s reality show - Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica - was such a smash, the former Baptist minister is planning to cash in with a Pete Wentz/Ashlee version.

“He knows that no one cared about Jessica before her reality show, and he’s hoping a show for Ashlee will have the same effect,” a family friend revealed to OK! Magazine.

What do you do when your career has taken a substantial nosedive? Executive-produce a show!

“What’s Left of Me” singer Nick Lachey is capitalizing on his former Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica Simpson success by aiding the development of a new MTV reality series. The yet to be titled project has been classified as an “edgier” version of High School Musical with a splash of Fame tossed in for good measure.

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo managed to keep their names in the news this weekend. A story leaked to FOX news claiming that the couple was getting married over the weekend in the Bahamas.

Can’t you just feel Jessica Simpson’s waistline expanding over that one? Why doesn’t she just� try to figure out how buffalo wings got their name!

It took awhile for the couple to respond, but on Saturday they finally commented: “Not true. Fox made it up,” Lachey’s rep said.
