Michael Phelps Gets a Heroes Homecoming

About 5,000 people were on hand to welcome Michael Phelps back home to Baltimore, Maryland, after his record-setting eight gold medals at the Beijing Summer Olympics. The crowds lined the streets for a welcome home parade, followed by a celebration at Fort McHenry.

Phelps walked onto the makeshift stage to cheers from thousands of people, many of whom arrived several hours before the event.

“There’s no better place to be than right here in Baltimore!” he told the crowd.

The “Star-Spangled Salute” started with a recap of Phelps’ performance in China and featured speeches by Gov. Martin O’Malley and Baltimore Mayor read more ....

Barack Obama Premiers on SNL

Obama’s going to be kicking off a new season of SNL this weekend - it’ll be his second appearance on the program - and it’ll be a star-studded night for the show!  Also scheduled to appear is Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Michael Phelps.

Obama was initially on the show almost two years ago,  making a cameo during an opening skit about a Halloween party at Hillary Clinton’s house, where she was portrayed as the presumptive president. As it turned out, Obama defeated Clinton to get the nomination and we doubt either would show up to the other’s Halloween party now, read more ....

Next Step for Michael Phelps? Book Deal.

It was really only a matter of time. Seems like anyone who’s accomplished anything is writing a book nowadays. Not that winning eight gold medals isn’t a HUGE accomplishment, but now Michael Phelps will be putting down his memories and advice into a memoir to be released in time for the holiday season.
The publisher outlined the themes for “Built to Succeed,” where Phelps will also cover his philosophy on training and competition, as well as his life being raised by a single mother and coping with ADD.Guess it’s not like he doesn’t have anything to write about.
