Although Katharine McPhee was ditched by her record label last week she was quickly snapped up and is no longer on the market. As a girlfriend that is, not a performer.

This weekend the wedding bells rang out, hopefully in tune, for the American Idol runner up from Simon Cowell’s show’s 5^th season when Katharine married a man almost twice her age. Nick Cokas is a record producer who met Katharine in 2005 even before she had auditioned for Idol that year, and the couple were engaged last year.

Another American Idol bites the dust! Just days after Taylor Hicks was dropped, now Katharine McPhee has been released by her label — J. Records.

The singer came in second on American Idol, to first place Hicks.

The new season is set to debut, but with lackluster sales of 2007 Idol, Jordin Sparks — one can’t help but wonder if the Idol juggernaut is starting to flag.

People Magazine is reporting that American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee is engaged to actor Nick Cokas.McPhee, 23, and Cokas, 42, have been dating for more than a year.

“Katharine is bubbling over with excitement for her upcoming wedding,” a source told People. “She is all smiles when she talks about the planning. It sounds like everything is going very smoothly.”

McPhee and Cokas met in 2005 when they performed in a Los Angeles theater production of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.
