Mary J. Blige who tops the nominations with eight, and running close on her heels are the while Red Hot Chili Peppers who garnered six nominations.

James Blunt, the Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, Danger Mouse, Prince, Rick Rubin, and will.i.am each earned five nods.

Beyoncé, Bryan-Michael Cox, Gnarls Barkley, Israel Houghton, Ludacris, T.I., Justin Timberlake and John Williams received four each.

People.com reports that soft-spoken John Mayer has professed his love for… Justin Timberlake?

No he doesn’t want to rock J.T.’s body ladies and gents, he simply respects the man, kind of.

“Those of you who’ve known me for a while are probably familiar with my firm defensive stance when it comes to the state of pop music,” Mayer wrote on his blog. “I think pop music is on a hot streak right now.”

A “defensive stance”? No offense John, but after dating Jessica Simpson you kinda lost your privileges to comment on what classifies good music.
