Be careful what you wish for, it may come true! That’s exactly what has happened to Barack Obama. So many times he has ‘bragged’ of his family tree including the gun toting Dick Cheney and has probably wished that he had more relatives in high places who’s names he could drag out at just about every campaign venue he attends.

Remember when John Lennon likened The Beatles to Jesus Christ? Well we have another delusional celebrity in our midst. Fergie has likened herself, her artistic skills and her public appeal to that of a real life princess, Princess Diana.

Fergie should be aware that there are a few others ahead of her in the queue for the status of ‘pop royalty’, maybe Madonna, Celine Dion or even Barbra Streisand, but for Fergie, its early days to be picking out her tiara!

With Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise spending a romantic weekend in Las Vegas, Celine Dion almost had her thunder stolen as she concluded her 4 year show at Caesar’s Palace, in Sin City.

Amidst floods of (I suspect crocodile) tears and a copious amount of red rose petals, Canadian born Dion, 39, brought her husband, Renee Charles and her son Rene Angelil, who could well be mistaken for a daughter with the length of his hair being reminiscent of that of Crystal Gale’s, onto the stage to demonstrate what a caring family lady she is.

Its not a new idea. Audrey Hepburn had a perfume on the cosmetic counters half a century ago, and Elizabeth Taylor’s “White Diamonds” launched in 1991 and became a huge success. So why in a period of 50 years can’t celebrities come up with something a little more original?

But now we have Celine Dion, Beyonce, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker and not forgetting Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Pleasures Delight” which sounds more like something on offer in a Thai massage parlour than a perfume, all offering us the chance to smell like, well read more ....
