It seems to be a year for ‘comeback kids!’. First there was The New Kids on The Block who resurrected themselves with a new album in September 2008, then there was Britney Spears making a recovery from her drug fueled downward spiral in February 2009, when she achieved success in her comeback by having the second single of off her comeback album, Circus. Then just a couple of months ago, out from the woodwork of obscurity came the 1980’s pop princess, Whitney Houston, with a new album, a new single and copious TV appearances to boot!

Leaving Edmund Hill Prison in Suffolk, England, after serving only five months of a 15 month prison sentence handed down to him in January this year for his part in an offence that saw the Karma Chameleon singer committing a drug frenzied attack.

Boy George, who’s real name is George O’Dowd, was accused of shackling a 29 year old Norwegian man to a radiator in his Shoreditich, London, apartment in April 2007, in which the judge called a callous and drug-fuelled frenzy, which traumatized Norwegian, Mr Carlsen, and deprived him of his liberty and his human dignity.

In the words of his own song, it’s ‘Crime Time’ for Boy George, the 1980’s founder of the flamboyant band, Culture Club, as he is sentenced to 15 months behind bars following his conviction of falsely imprisoning a male escort.

After appearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court today, 47 year old Boy George, was taken away to begin his sentence immediately.

George, who’s real name is George O’Dowd, was accused of holding his victim, Norwegian Audun Carlsen, hostage by handcuffing him to a radiator and interrogating him about some photographs O’Dowd believed Audun had lifted from the star’s computer.

Singer/Songwriter Boy George was at the top of his game in the early ‘80’s after starting the band Culture Club. People went wild for the overly flamboyant, New Romantic Movement hits such as “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” Once the band broke up in ’86, George decided to try his hand at a solo career. Though he gained a decent amount of success in the UK, he never quite made it in the US - unless you count his work on the 2003 Broadway musical Taboo.

I’ve got a right to be wrong!Britain’s soulful young singer Joss Stone is breaking her heart after the rejection she has experienced from fans in her home country. After moving her life, her hair, her accent and her music to the USA she has discovered that the Brits don’t want her anymore and Stone puts it down to anything but the fact that her third album is nowhere near as appealing as her first two and expresses her thoughts on the rejection as being, “maybe it’s because I dye my hair, maybe it’s because my accent is messed up.”

Culture Club icon Boy George just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Braids or bald, rehab or community service, smeared lipstick or obsessively-detailed eyeliner, this boy sure knows how to keep us on our toes.

Its almost here. The season for dressing up and scaring all the neighbours half to death but some celebrities go just that little bit too far.
