In the later part of her performing career, Audrey Hepburn turned her interests to the starving children of the third world. And became a Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations International Chidren’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), from 1988 until her untimely death in January 1993.

Throughout her work with the organization she used her image and the great interest people had in her, to attract world attention to her cause.

In the new millennium we have Angleina Jolie following in the footsteps of Miss Hepburn.

Its not a new idea. Audrey Hepburn had a perfume on the cosmetic counters half a century ago, and Elizabeth Taylor’s “White Diamonds” launched in 1991 and became a huge success. So why in a period of 50 years can’t celebrities come up with something a little more original?

But now we have Celine Dion, Beyonce, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker and not forgetting Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Pleasures Delight” which sounds more like something on offer in a Thai massage parlour than a perfume, all offering us the chance to smell like, well read more ....
