Britney’s Umbrella

Music producer Tricky Stewart has just revealed the truth about Rihanna’s summer hit “Umbrella” - which now has developed that Natalie Imbruglia “Torn” syndrome where you may just may jump off a ledge if you hear it one more time. But that only means one thing: Rihanna made an obscene amount of money on the single. Not only that, but it launched the nineteen-year-olds career into superstardom practically out of nowhere. She broke records with the single when it stayed at number 1 for 10 consecutive weeks.

But Tricky has come forward recently and revealed that the track was originally created for the fallen pop princess herself, Britney Spears. After completing the track Tricky consulted Brit Brit’s people about adding it to her new album but unfortunately for the troubled singer no one ever returned his call.

Stewart told singer-songwriter Taio Cruz that the pop tart was his first choice for the track. “I was working with Tricky in his studio the day he finished ‘Umbrella.’ As soon as I heard it I said, ‘That is a smash, I have to have it,’ but he told me it was on hold for Britney,” Cruz says, the Daily Star reports. “I told him I didn’t think Britney would be able to sing it she hasn’t got the right accent but he said he was keeping it for her anyway. He waited but Britney’s people never called him back.”

But for those of you who aren’t rolling your eyes at yet another Britney fumble and who are anxiously awaiting her comeback you may be happy to hear that her new single is said to be dropping this weekend. The track is an up tempo dance song called, “Gimmie More.” It was produced by Danjahandz who is a disciple of the great Timbaland. “It’s about feeling good, celebrating womanhood,” Danja confessed to MTV News. “And if you don’t dance to it, I really don’t know what you’re listening to. It’s a new Britney.”

Turning down the biggest song of the year aside we are still hoping that Britney’s comeback goes well. After all there are only so many times you can roll your eyes at the icon who insists on wearing shirts as dresses, clipping in awful synthetic hair extensions and cutting jeans into Daisy Dukes. Most unfortunate was the stripper pole video shoot incident earlier this year that ended in tears. That same video was for the single “Gimmie More” and has reportedly been re-shot.

Stay on the edge of your seat this weekend and wait for the new Brit Brit to hit the airwaves - maybe even getting the mind numbingly overplayed “Umbrella” out of your head once and for all.

This fall it’s Britney to the rescue!
