Who would ever have thought the guy who gave us the hilarious movies in the form of the Christmas stealing Grinch, Almighty Bruce and Liar Liar, would himself find it hard to laugh and be happy?
But Canadian born Jim Carrey has spoken out about his life long battle with depression and about anti-depression drugs, stating they don’t work for the disease. Having used Prozac for many years in his battle with the illness, Carrey says, “At the risk of like opening up the whole Tom Cruise Prozac argument, you know, I don’t disagree in many ways. I think Prozac and things like that are very valuable to people for short periods of time. But I believe if you’re on them for an extended period of time, you never get to the problem. You never get to see what the problem is, because everything is just kind of OK. And so, you don’t deal. And people deal when they get desperate.”

But depression hasn’t marred his funny man career which sees the boyfriend of Playboy model, Jenny McCarthy, being one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood as he reveals, rather than use Prozac, he uses as a remedy for his depression which is a vitamin which contains some natural substances found in the brain like, Tyrosine and hydroxytryptophan.

In 2005, Tom Cruise got into a heated exchange over psychiatry and the improper use of psychiatric drugs with TV show host Matt Lauer in which he publicly attacked Brooke Shields for taking anti-depressants for her post natal depression. You can find Jenny McCarthy in many Playboy Back Issues.
