Just when Olivia Newton John was ‘hopelessly devoted’ to the man in her life, cameraman, Patrick McDermott, he decided to go walk-a-bouts in 2005 with not a word to Miss Newton John or anyone else, amid his battle with major financial problems and bankruptcy.

And now, four years later, after vanishing, and being presumed drowned while on a fishing trip of the coast of Los Angeles, McDermott has reemerged with a message to investigators, saying he just wants to be left alone as he works as a deckhand in a small Mexican fishing village.
‘Grease’ star, Olivia, had been in a relationship with McDermott for more than nine years when he made the decision to walk out of her life and begin his new life in Mexico.
At the time police concluded that he had fallen overboard, after finding only his wallet and keys on board the boat. But there was also speculation that he faked his own death because of debt and child support. But prior to his disappearance, McDermott got a second passport under his birth name, Patrick Kim, and emptied two bank accounts.
With new information surfacing confirming that the 48 year old is still in fact very much alive and kicking, he has sent faxes and made phone calls to Philip Klein, private investigator, who has revealed, “Pat asked that I portray to you his innocence in the crimes you have accused him of. Pat has committed no crime … Pat simply wishes to be left alone. Let him live his life in peace and harmony. He is safe and has started anew again in a new place both mentally and physically.'’

Since McDermott went missing, Olivia, 60, went on to marry herb tycoon John Easterling in 2008.
The U.S. Coast Guard says it will not reopen the investigation which it closed in 2006 into McDermott’s disappearance.
