Shouldn’t the British public be the ones bursting into tears at the sight of Amy Winehouse returning to their shores? Instead, it was the Back to Black singer who gave a public display of emotion as she let the tears fall on her arrival at Gatwick Airport yesterday after her 8 month vacation on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.

Added to the interest in Winehouse’s emotional state the press began commenting on just how well and healthy the little druggie looked. Well, we suspect most of us would look healthy and rested after eight months of lounging around on sun drenched beaches and drinking key lime martinis to our heart’s content.

So was the 25 year old Winehouse crying tears of happiness to be back in the good old UK and back among her old drunken mates down in Camden Town or was she crying because she’d outstayed her welcome in paradise and more or less been evicted?

Well, her spokesperson soon put us right on that when he told the waiting press, ‘She’s really happy to be back and can’t wait to catch up with family and friends.’

So the burning question is, did Amy jump or was she pushed, out of St Lucia? Guess we’ll have to wait for the answer to that one, but we’re guessing it’s the latter.

Since leaving the UK at Christmas Winehouse has been in St Lucia under the guise of recording her third album, but if the locals are to be believed, recording an album was the furthest thing from the native Londoner’s mind. Her wild and drunken behaviour lead to many inhabitants of the paradise island stating that Amy had outstayed her welcome.

A source said, ‘She’s been banned from hotels, the bars don’t want her there, and locals see her as a nuisance when she’s drunk. Her friends have all left and gone back home, and her mum and dad couldn’t stay in St Lucia with her as she was acting up too much.’

But sources close to Winehouse who are attempting to create the illusion of a reformed performer, reporting that, she is back in the UK for a number of business meetings and to continue work on her next album and to assist and promote the release of her 13 year old goddaughter’s début album which is due for release later this year.

Just how long she’ll remain in the UK is unclear but we’re guessing that the Brits hope its not too long and the folks on St Lucia hope its for good!
