We may all put singer Madonna on a pedestal when it comes to naming artists who have had the most influence on the music industry over the past 30 years but its refreshing to hear that even someone as totally iconic in her own right as the Material Girl can be overshadowed, left devastated and in awe at the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

But tonight, at her concert at the O2 Arena in London, where she will be performing, and where her concert dates had been rumored to have clashed with Jackson’s, causing him to put his start date back by three days, Madonna will honour Michael with a heart-felt tribute to The Man in the Mirror, after she was reported as saying, ‘He was the king of pop who inspired us all.’

The 50-year-old superstar revealed she will be dedicating her forthcoming concerts to Jackson, following his death on June 25th. She said, ‘I am so terribly sad about Michael Jackson’s death. I don’t know what artist wasn’t inspired by him. To be able to do what he did at such an early age was unearthly, everybody grew up in awe of him.’

Madonna had apparently spoken of doing some kind of performance with Michael as she handed over the O2 Arena to him and even jokingly mentioned, ‘When I heard he was going to be performing at the O2 I offered to do something with him. I don’t know what we could have done together, I could have carried his bags for him maybe.’
Now there’s an accolade, when the Queen of Pop would stoop to carry cases for the King of Pop.
Michael and Madonna attended the Academy Awards together in 1990 where they sat together and enjoyed an eveing as friends.
