There they were, the good, the bad, the old, the has-beens and the uglies, but they’d all come out to celebrate the 65th birthday of one wonderful Hollywood star who has stood the test of time, Michael Douglas.

At the 37th American Film Institute (AFI) Life Achievement Awards at Sony Studios in Culver City, the star of The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past gave no inclination that he was either considering retiring, as most men of his age would be doing, and certainly had no intention of slowing down as he looked lovingly in to the eyes of his Welsh born wife, Catherine Zeta Jones.

Catherine, herself now 39, and the mother of two children, put on the evening’s entertainment for Michael as she showed off her dancing skills that landed her the role of Velma Kelly in the movie Chicago, in 2002, as she shimmied her way through a dance routine in a figure hugging sequined flapper style dress.

But more amazing than Michael reaching his 65th birthday in such great health, having one of the longest and happiest marriages in Hollywood……was the fact that both his parents were there to share in his landmark celebration. Douglas’s father, Kirk Douglas is now 92 years old and was also honoured in 1991. Michael’s mother, 86 year old Diana Dill Douglas, is actually divorced from Kirk, but evidently both share the common love and support of their little boy, Michael!

Other guests on the red carpet sharing Michael and Catherine’s evening were his co-star from Basic Instinct, Sharon Stone, British beauty Jane Seymour, Annette Bening and former bad boy Warren Beatty who appears to have just barffed into his dinner plate and of course, the bad boy to end all bad boys, Playboy’s 83 year old Hugh Hefner, complete with three woman in his life right now who give him ‘that look of love’ when they see the size of his cheque book, twin girlfriends Karissa and Kristina Shannon and Crystal Harris.

And by the look on Hef’s face, even he is wondering what the hell to do with three woman who appear to only just have graduated high school!
