Is the world about to see the emergence of another Eva Peron style wife of a leader, in the form of America’s First Lady, Michelle Obama? Mrs Obama is trying so hard to make her mark as an ‘ordinary’ American, but she’s tripping up already, and in such expensive sneakers too!

Following in the footsteps (and the well shoed footsteps at that!) of the great Evita who convinced a poverty torn Argentina of the late 1940’s in her Rainbow Tour, that she was, for the people and with the people in their suffering, and yet behind the scenes led the life of a royal, it appears that Michelle is displaying the same brand of public duplicity.

Attempting to blend in with the recession struck poor folks of America, Obama attended a charity food package drive in Washington last week wearing a very ordinary cardigan, unattractive figure hugging calf length trousers all finished off with a pair of $550 designer trainers. Oups!

The grey suede trainers, which are also in denim and satin have metallic pink toes and grosgrain ribbon laces are by the exclusive French couture house Lanvin, and have been seen adorning the feet of such ostentatious celebrities as  Ellen DeGeneres and Kanye West.

So, Mrs Obama, as a quote from America‘s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, your husband, Barack Obama’s favourite president says, ‘You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time!’

Mrs Obama needs to make up her mind whether she wants to hunt with the hounds or run with fox, but at least if she runs with the fox she has the right foot attire, even if they are about the tackiest shoes to hit the fashion market!
