The current State Of Play in the Sean Penn, Robin Wright Penn marriage is now described as having ‘irreconcilable differences’.

After parting company in 2008 and reuniting shortly after that in an effort to give their 13 year marriage a second chance, the Hollywood couple have finally realized that the soufflé just wont rise twice.

Sean, 48, who was recently awarded an Oscar for his role in the biopic movie based on the murdered gay rights activist, Harvey Milk, Milk, has filed for divorce in the Marin County Superior Court in San Rafael, California.

The couple met in 1990 while both appearing in the Irish mob movie, State of Grace and strangely enough they have now parted 19 years later with Robin having appeared in the Russell Crowe movie, State of Play.

During their careers both actors have appeared in blockbuster movies including, Penn’s repertoire of, Dead Man Walking, 21 Grams, I Am Sam, All the King’s Men and Mystic River, for which he won a best actor Oscar in 2004.

For her part Robin starred as Jenny in Forrest Gump alongside Tom Hanks, The Princess Bride, Beowulf, with British Oscar winner, Anthony Hopkins, and Breaking and Entering with Jude Law.

Penn was previously married to singer Madonna from 1985 until they divorced in 1989.
