The last time we saw a beautiful, wacky Hollywood blonde in the middle of a public head shaving it was the fallen star Britney Spears. But now, for a totally different reason, actress Cameron Diaz has taken an electric razor to her locks as she prepares for her latest role as Sara, in My Sister’s Keeper, which sees Diaz as the sister of Kate, played by  Sofia Vassilieva, who is in a battle with leukemia.

The movie is based on a best seller by Jodi Picault which tells of a family who bring a new baby, Anna into the family, a role landed by Abigail Breslin, whom they believe will be a perfect genetic match to their cancer ridden daughter and through whom they can achieve a cure.

After years of donating her blood, bone marrow and then being expected to donate her kidney to her dying sister, Anna, at 13, decides to employ the services of an attorney, played by Alec Baldwin, to sue her parents for using her body in such a manner.

The movie set to have us all sobbing in our Kleenex in much the same way as Love Story did back in the 1970’s.

Other stars in the movie, all geared up to add to our emotional state are, Thomas Dekker, 21, as Kate’s first love and fellow cancer patient, and Joan Cusack as the judge who oversees the trial.

The film is set for release in June this year.
