There are probably many people who might think that being married to Tom Cruise is enough to make any woman cry, what with his penchant for jumping all over the furniture and dressing up in military uniforms, but what would make Katie Holmes want to dress like that?

A movie role!

Katie has been under a lot of strain lately with her intense schedule, performing day and night on New York’s Broadway in the role of Ann Deever in Arthur Miller’s play All My Sons, raising her 2 year old Suri and walking red carpets. But its not those pressures that have her sobbing into her drab grey coat sleeves. Its her role in her new movie The Extra Man, which sees her starring alongside Kevin Kline, that has her whimpering.

Katie’s role in the comedy is not yet known but will probably be Laura. Kline plays the role of a failed playwright who works as an escort for rich widows on the Upper East Side of New York. He develops a mentor-student relationship with a troubled aspiring playwright played by Little Miss Sunshine star Paul Dano.

Producer Anthony Bregman said of the film: ‘This is a film for our times, these hilarious characters living on the edge of enormous wealth, scrapping for small pieces of the pie. I suspect a lot of people will be able to identify nowadays.’
