jack and jade.jpg It’s a reality she doubtless wishes had not come her way, the reality of death. But England’s princess for a day, Jade Goody, has turned her celebrity status, gained on the reality show, Celebrity Big Brother, into a soap opera that has gripped the British public but can never have a happy ending.

Jade, who made several enemies when she took a racist side swipe at fellow Big Brother house mate Shilpa Shetty in 2007, has since gained the support and love of just about every citizen in the UK, along with the Prime Minister Gordon Brown, every talk show host across the country and Mohamed Al Fayed who donated a £3,500 gown as a wedding gift, since she revealed in September 2008 that she was battling cervical cancer.

In early 2009 jade was given the bad news that the chemotherapy she had undergone and had claimed her hair, had not rid her of the disease and she was now facing terminal cancer.

Today, Jade’s marriage to boyfriend, Jack Tweed, whom she met on the reality show, grabbed the nation in a bitter sweet wedding ceremony that joined the two in marriage, albeit for what will more than likely be a short lived affair. Deals worth £1 million have been struck for the magazine and TV rights as international interest in the story grows. But she will not have the luxury of looking back on any of it in years to come.

Along with the outburst of interest, support and affection for Jade, hardly seen since the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981, it looks probable that as with Diana’s death and funeral in 1997, Jade’s funeral will also grip the British public in a similar manner.

But for today, Jade’s publicist, Max Clifford, will spend his time as a Mr Fixit at the reality TV star’s wedding for which he has managed to secured the £700,000 magazine deal for the rights to Jade’s nuptials. The money will be set up into a trust fund for her two sons Bobby, five, and four-year-old Freddie.

As the happy couple exchange vows at Down Hall country manor, in Hatfield Heath, Essex, Clifford will ensure the day goes without a hitch. Max said: “It will be my job to work behind the scenes and make sure the day is perfect for Jade. She has been very much looking forward to it.”

Max, who himself lost his wife to the disease in 2003, has comforted Jade throughout her illness, put aside his own emotional trauma to comfort her giving first hand advice and experience of the disease, as he too battled and overcame prostate cancer in 2008.
