It may have been the city that saw Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw catching her man and living happily ever after, but New York City certainly hasn’t proved that successful in the romance stakes for Sarah Jessica Parker as she parts company from her husband of 12 years, Matthew Broderick.

The couple have been know to have matrimonial problems since Sarah’s success as Carrie in the HBO series SATC and Matthew’s lack of success in the movie follow up to his Broadway show, The Producers. As SJP’s career spiraled upwards, Broderick’s went in the opposite direction which now also seems to be the case with their marriage.

In 2008, while Parker was busy filming SATC, Broderick, acting like a complete ‘Mr Small Minded’ wandered into the bed of a 25 year old woman. Finding this hard to recover from Parker has now decided to look for a home of her own in The Big Apple for her and the couple’s 6 year old son, James Wilkie.

Quoting an insider, the Star magazine reports, “The time has come when she realizes it just isn’t worth it. Sarah Jessica is determined to get her own place and bring down the curtain on her marriage. Sarah’s not stupid. She knows exactly what’s going on. For a while it was easier for her to stay than go through a harsh divorce. They’re essentially living separate lives.

‘They spent the holidays with him, pretending to be happy,” says another source. “SJP is a great actress when she has to be!”

Lets hope she goes on from strength to strength and finally finds her own Mr Big!
