In yet another movie that sees Tom Cruise donning a uniform, Valkyrie, looks set to put Tom back on the map as the accomplished actor her really is.
Having made his transition from unknown, to sex symbol and Hollywood hunk in the role of Lt. Pete Maverick Mitchell, in the 1986 blockbuster, Top Gun, and again as the handsome young, uniform wearing, Lt Daniel Kaffee in A Few Good Men, it seems that wearing a uniform brings out something in Cruise which makes him stand apart from the normal run of the mill roles he takes on from time to time.
With the impending release of Valkyrie on Christmas day, Tom has been doing the rounds with a series of TV appearances and interviews to promote the movie.
Since Tom’s ‘couch jumping’ appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s in 2005, and his run in with show host Matt Lauer when he touched on the legitimacy of antidepressants and psychiatry and all this coupled with Cruises’ association with Scientology has left Tom’s acting career is in need of a boost.
Appearing on CBC’s The Hour With George Stroumboulopoulos, Tom told spoke of how he’s learned from past mistakes saying, “You just go ‘OK, I could have handled things better’ and you just learn from it and move on. I think that that’s all you can do. And just focus and take care of the family and take care of my work.”
