Amy Poehler’s chair sat empty this week on Saturday Night Live! Why? Because she was making her own news as she brought a new life into the world, her new baby son, Archie.

Amy and her partner, Will Arnett, welcomed their 8 pound 1 ounce baby son into their lives this weekend and the news was announced by Poehler’s “Weekend Update” tag-team partner, Seth Meyers, at the opening of the fake news segment where he stated, “Amy Poehler is not here tonight because she’s having a baby. Now here are tonight’s other top stories…”

In a recent interview Poehler joked, ‘We think we might have the most unfunniest child’, to which Arnett added, ‘We have always imagined that we’d have a Sean Penn-like child’.

Amy has decided not to return to SNL after the birth and will instead embark on a new venture with NBC sitcom from the producers of The Office.
