It’s about time. I’ve never thought that Alice in Wonderland was much of a kids’ movie, what with it’s mushrooms, opium, and all-around acid-trip feeling, as a kid it kind of freaked me out. Which is why as an adult I’ve been waiting for a more mature-themed movie version to come along. And here it is, with none other than Tim Burton directing and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. It’s a match made in acid-trip heaven!

When Burton committed to filming a new live-action/CG-animated version of “Alice,” Depp was thought to be the most likely candidate to play the Mad Hatter, given his ongoing relationship with Burton.

Although it’s being financed by Disney, we’re sure that given the Burton/Depp pairing, it will prove to be quite enticing to adults.
