It was always obvious that the Batman movies wouldn’t end with the passing of Heath Ledger but he certainly left a huge pair of shoes to be filled following his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight, which has seen the movie topping the box office ratings for two consecutive weeks taking $314 million in just 10 days and now there is talk of it challenging Titanic to become the biggest movie of all time. Titanic took $600 million in the US. The Dark Knight certainly looks set to reach second place in the all-time chart and beat Star Wars, which made $460 million.

So, who could fill those shoes and play an equally good, maybe even better, Riddler in the sequel to Tim Burton’s latest blockbuster?

The rumour is that the role may fall to Johnny Depp to fill.

In the past Jim Carrey added his take on the role of The Riddler and although we all have a preconceived idea of The Riddler, Depp still has the acting skill to bring the character to life in a whole new light and make it his own, as he has in the past with Sweeney Todd, Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, Willy Wonka and Edward Scissorhands.

It is also more than likely that Depp, as The Riddler, will be the nagging stone in the shoe of Christian Bale’s Caped Crusader in the sequel..
