In light of the Britney anticipation (and subsequent let down), it’s easy to see how fashion on the red carpet could be overlooked. We’re here to rectify the situation. Some outfits were just as bad as Brit’s sloppy stripper performance, but other stars stepped up to the plate (or the red carpet) and brought their fashion best.

Slinky satin set the tone for the evening, which on some stars is no surprise. Paris Hilton stepped out in a leopard print sheath/corset/lingerie dress - the style has become somewhat of her red carpet trademark. She paired it with something a bit different, though - an unusual pouffy hairdo. Yawn.

Other stars with satin sex-appeal: Rihanna rocked in a long, pink dress and Hayden Panettiere showed up in a flirty, short blue number. These girls let the frisky fabric do the talking.

Another sleek look adding to the appeal of red carpet satin - body hugging dresses. Paris’ leopard number wasn’t really a surprise, but other stars opted for the style as well. Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige both squeezed into glam black numbers..

Then there was the “elephant in the room” so to speak. Nelly Furtado a blond?! It was hard to tell it was even her! Then the pants, the shoes - was that a jumper?! She did NOT come off looking her best.

And of course, watching some of the star’s fashion faux pax is almost as enjoyable as ogling the hotter styles. (Seriously, what are they thinking? Don’t they have teams of people working around the clock to make them gorgeous?) Kid Rock bared his man-midriff in a cut-off western shirt (gag) and usually well-dressed Beyonce looked like she was wearing a gold bathrobe.

Nice to see celebs are subject to the same fashion foibles as the rest of us.
