Oprah Hearts Obama

Oprah Winfrey hosted a star-studded shindig for her favorite Presidental candidate, Barack Obama, over the weekend.

One of the most influential women people in the world, Oprah has the power to create overnight best sellers. The question is: Does she have the same power over who sits in the Oval Office? This is the first time she’s openly endorsed a candidate – presumably she’s not afraid of losing fans that don’t share her political views.

USA Today reports: “Stevie Wonder performed for guests, who included Sidney Poitier, Forest Whitaker, Chris Rock, Cindy Crawford, Jimmy Connors, Linda Evans, Dennis Haysbert and many others. Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Halle Berry also were expected, though it was unclear if they were in attendance. The media were barred from the fundraiser.”

Oprah’s soiree sold out 1,500 tickets at $2,300 a pop. (Imagine being able to host 1,500 people at your “house.” Not too shabby.)

Hollywood fans that have already maxed out the legal donation amount to the Obama campaign include Morgan Freeman, Eddie Murphy, Leonard Nimoy, Chris Rock, George Clooney and Jennifer Aniston, according to the Tribune.

What I want to know is… when will Oprah run for President??
