Though Canadian pop-rocker Avril Lavigne isn’t sick of singing, she is “…ready to try out some other stuff.”
The “stuff,” which she so succinctly put it, is the art of acting. Before breaking out in 2002 with her aggravated tween-anthem “Complicated,” Lavigne had theatrical aspirations up the yin yang which started at a very early age.
“When I was younger I did some theatre at school and I really loved it,” she said last year in an interview for Girl.com.au. “But my singing career took off and I’ve been focusing on that for about five years now…”
The 22-year-old has managed to snag a couple of roles in high-profile films; such as 2006’s animated comedy Over the Hedge as well as the fictionalized feature Fast Food Nation. She also briefly acted alongside Richard Gere in the 2007 release The Flock.
And now, according to Britain’s London Paper, she will soon be participating in a mystery movie that has been kept very hush-hush.
However, one thing we know for certain is that Lavigne has landed the lead character.
“I’ve got a film role coming up - something you wouldn’t expect from me,” she hinted. “Something deep and dark.”
Geez, way to keep fans on the edge of their seats!
