Former Hole frontwoman - and current solo artist - Courtney Love had a painful weekend as she checked into L.A.’s Cedars Sinai hospital due to chest & throat discomfort.

According to her spokesperson, the 43-year-old mother of one was diagnosed with strep throat after getting poked & prodded by doctors in the wee hours of the a.m. What’s more, she was supposedly forced to see a psychiatrist after being quizzed on her habitual drug use.

In an act that makes my own gullet sore just by thinking about it, Courtney made a detour on the way home to pick up cigarettes. Not surprisingly, she “…looked pretty worn out,” an observer told TMZ.com.

In other news, Love is presently co-producing a filmed bio of her deceased ex hubby Kurt Cobain. Heavier than Heaven - which is an adaptation of a fabulous book by the same name written by Charles Cross - is rumored to star Scarlett Johansson as Courtney, and Ryan Gosling as the Nirvana mastermind.
