“Avril Lavigne Caught in Dancer Dispute”

Pop-rocker Avril Lavigne is in hot water after allegedly failing to pay her backing dancers the standard industry rate. � A tug-of-war commenced when a U.S organization known as the Dancers’ Alliance urged participants to boycott Tuesday’s tryouts for the singer’s upcoming May tour, reports Digitalspy.com.

An email expressing their distress was recently leaked to the media, prompting Lavigne’s publicist to retaliate by insisting that she “prides herself in treating everyone on the tour with the utmost respect and consideration and pays them well within the industry standard.”

Although they fought tooth and nail, Avril’s crew was forced to cancel the audition and eventually agreed to rethink the wages.

The Alliance victoriously posted the following statement on its MySpace page: “As of February 4^th, 10:30pm, Avril’s management has cancelled the audition tomorrow and has opened up a new conversation with the agencies. Thanks for everyone’s support on this issue.”

Rule of thumb – no matter how famous you may be you still have to watch out for the little people!
