In a week when the news has been dominated by the sad news of the death of Heath Ledger and all the rumours and speculation that it has drawn from around the world, its good to report on a fact, a good fact!

The Oscars are go!

The writers appear to have called a ceasefire on their three month strike and the glitz and glamour is about to be restored to Hollywood.

The show could have gone ahead, as with the Golden Globes two weeks ago, but who wants to see a panel of overweight, over-realist aging reporters having their fifteen minutes of fame all decked out in their 30 year old prom dresses? Even with the Oscar theme this year being old Hollywood Glamour, that’s pushing it!

Without the actors, actresses, directors and producers the glitz would only be conspicuous by its absence and the whole show would be pretty drab.

So lets bring on the overpaid stars who make the Oscars what they are, the diamond draped plastic people and the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Courtney Love whose lives would go into a complete tail spin without the adoration of the people, the press and the paparazzi!

As we speak the red carpet is being rolled out yet again, the endless vases of perfect white roses are being filled, the floaty white drapes hung and the big Gold man himself is being installed once again in his rightful place!
