The three month old writer’s strike in Hollywood is definitely gaining momentum among the celebrities who are now threatening to boycott the Academy Awards due to be held in Hollywood in February this year.

The biggest name to come out in support of the writers so far is 46 year old George Clooney, who’s probably been to so many Oscars it’s a welcome relief to be able to stay home and snuggle up with latest girlfriend, Sarah Larson. Speaking from the Critics awards in Santa Monica he said: “I don’t cross picket lines. “I belong to six unions myself and I wouldn’t cross a picket line.”

Oh super, but will it involve food?

Then there’s British star Keira Knightley who has also pledged her support of the writers. Guess it saves her having to attend one of those tedious after Oscar parties where one is expected to actually put food in one’s mouth!

Okay, deep breath, and, SMILE!

For ‘old timers’ like Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep it’s sure to save them the bother of hunting down that literally ‘breath taking’ unique evening gown and having to suck in their middle aged tummies for a full 8 hours.

But have a care for all those poor little new comers, like Zac Efron, Nikki Blonsky and Freddie Highmore, who for them, this could be the high light of their movie making career when they’re recognized by their peers for their award winning performances.

The three-month strike has affected most big US TV shows Lost, 24 and Desperate Housewives and stalled production of many Hollywood films.

Now just an after thought! Who’s gonna have all those Motorola limited-edition versions of the ultrathin phones that are packed and ready to be dished out at this years Oscars as Goodybag pressies?
