“Britney Spears Gets Her Knickers in a Twist”

Well golly gee ya’ll, Britney Spears is plum off her rocker! Why this two-week old news can be found in the latest copy of Us Weekly is beyond me; nonetheless it’s far too delicious to pass up. By now we’re all aware of the pop-wreck’s fondness for A) wigs & B) indecent exposure, but this time she went a little too far. The aforementioned publication is claiming that just before 1am on November 18^th Brit sashayed into West Hollywood’s “Hustler” shop.

Scooping up a handful of frilly panties, she made a beeline for the dressing rooms but was denied access. “They told her they don’t allow people to try on underwear and she was really upset,” a source revealed to the magazine. Decidedly peeved, Spears whirled around and removed her own underwear smack-dab in the middle of the store and in front of fifteen shoppers. What couldn’t she wait to try on ‘til she got home? A pair of pink knickers with the words ‘Barely Legal’ stitched across the back. What a classy mommy.

“The employees said, ‘Don’t change out here!’ She’s just like, ‘Well, I couldn’t take them in the fitting room! It was like dealing with a child,’ described one witness.” The staff told her she had to pay, and she rolled her eyes, but paid with a credit card. Did the meltdown stop there? Of course not; on the way out, Spears allegedly stole a wig off a mannequin! Just another incident to add to her erratic resume.

In other Britney news, MTV has reported that the singer has set up a contest allowing fans to gain creative control by directing a separate version of her “Piece of Me” video. Launching Monday and running through December 14^th, the “Britney Spears Wants a Piece of You” competition will give admirers access to interviews, red-carpet appearances, performances and random footage of Spears from over the years. Using the “MTV Video Remixer,” fans can choose clips they like – 3:34 minutes worth or shorter – to string together to create their ideal Brit world. The winner will be chosen by Jive Records, MTV and of course the gal behind the music. The video will premiere exclusively on “TRL” on December 20th and the lucky fan will receive: a spankin’ new Haier Ibiza Rhapsody device, a one-year subscription to Rhapsody, and a copy of every DVD & CD Spears’ has released in the U.S.! Other performers who have participated in this sort of thing include Kelly Clarkson, Nelly Furtado, Common, and Paramore.

As a closing note that is a bit random but totally worth mentioning, Miss Spears turns 26 on Sunday. How much do you want to bet it will be a night full of club-hopping and general debauchery? Oh well, happy birthday Brit!
