Anna Nicole Smith was not a hero or a legend. She was in fact a woman falling apart on the cover of every magazine, out of control and more fascinating than ever. Just as much as everyone cared about Anna Nicole no one seemed to want to step in to save her life — or dare to deprive the world of non-stop, unpredictable entertainment.

It seems ridiculous now, the way people watched her life decay and laughed at her incoherence as if she were a fictional character in a sitcom and hijinks would inevitably ensue. It was just that sort of high concept pitch that got Anna her very own reality show. We watched her slowly deplete throughout the years, her weight fluctuating as much as her emotions in our living rooms every week.
It seems that the more Howard K. Stern lurks around her legacy the more incriminating it is. The allegations surrounding him are hard to forget while watching this video, as more and more unseen footage of Anna surfaces.
You may remember shortly after she died there was a break in at her house in the Bahamas. Oddly Entertainment Tonight cameras were with Stern live as he discovered the robbery.
“They went through every bag, every purse,” he told the cameras.
“They took all the pictures off the wall. They took the pictures that Anna personally painted,” he said. “They went through everything. Oh my goodness, Anna’s picture as Marilyn Monroe is gone. This is where we had the videos of the baby’s birth,” he told us. “They took the baby’s birth certificate, baby’s first footprint. They took stuff that can’t be… I can’t believe anybody would do this.”
Seems sort of bizarre and suspicious that someone just happened rob Anna’s house shortly after she died, taking things like official documents. Wonder what else could have been in those boxes.
The truly sad part is that Anna’s daughter will pay for all the shady happenings and greedy drama. Anna Nicole’s son Daniel seemed to have paid already, perhaps with his life. As Bahamian police reopen the case only time will tell if either death will be ruled a homicide.
The haunting voice of the nine-year-old visitor pleading with the Stern is so overtly sad, “Howard help her please!” she pleaded as the only rational person in the room.
But Howard had little intention of helping an obviously oblivious Anna who was 8 months pregnant and clearly on drugs. Sadly her face had also been painted like a clown as she was coaxed into believing that a toy doll was her actual baby. Howard even at one point says, “This tape is worth money.”
Although Stern claims that it is taken out of context and was never meant to be released to the public throughout the footage you can hear him making comments about music in the background making shots unusable or instructing the camera man to get certain shots.
Sadly Anna didn’t seem to have a clue that she was being exploited by everyone around her. The one person she could trust, her son Daniel, mysteriously died leaving her surrounded by vultures who all knew that there was an opportunity to take his place as beneficiary.
Though Smith had a strange and complex life her death hasn’t resolved any unanswered questions; in fact it’s left quite a few new ones.
Someone, a handler, a doctor, or in this case her lawyer should be held accountable for what they pulled over on a clearly vulnerable and distraught woman, insane with grief. We will keep you updated on the case which will be open next month.
