Period piece and acclaimed cable series, Mad Men walked away with top honors at Sunday’s Emmys. The show, which revolves around the workings of a New York advertising agency in the early 1960s — was named outstanding drama series.

Another big winner was the mini-series John Adams, with Paul Giametti personalizing the life and career of the second president of the United States.
